Welcome to the Parent's page!!!
It is our intent with this page to provide you with as much information as possible to make you and your child's fencing experience a lot of fun without a lot of headaches.  We welcome any suggestions you might have to add to this page.  Please feel free to e-mail at INFO@SAFENCINGCENTER.COM.

General guidelines for the Fencing Center:

1) Equipment
is available for beginner's to use.  Please make sure all care is taken with the weapons.  Believe or not, fencing blades will break.  If a blade breaks while in use by your child, you will be responsible for the replacement costs.  Please ensure your child returns all equipment to its' proper place.  Sweaty lames  should be turned inside-out to dry and body cords should be neatly coiled.

If you are interested in purchasing equipment, please feel free to ask us for assistance. Our club can get discounts from equipment vendors and we can provide information on the best items to purchse for your child.

****  Please only use equipment from the 'club' racks.  Other racks may hold personal equipment not intended for public use. ****

2) Safety, Sportsmanship and Decorum play a very important role in the sport of fencing.  Dsiplays of poor sportmanship including but not limited to, violent or dangerous hits, swearing, or the throwing of equipment will not be tolerated.  Bouting as well as certain drills are not allowed without the proper equipment.  Please do not let visiting children touch the equipment.

3) Beverages (water, sports drinks and soda) are available for purchase in the mini-frigerator.  Please deposit money in the cup.

4) Lounge and exercise area are available for your use while your child is taking a lesson or engaging in some buts.  We ask that you do not engage the students during the lessons.  We do have a children's corner near the front as well.

Tournaments:
Youth tournaments are held throughout the year at the local, regional and national level.  At major tournaments, our goal is to eventually provide coaching to our fencers.  For those requesting coaching, fees and expenses will be split amongst the fencers.

We strongly encourage all fencers to become mebers of the United States Fencing Association (USFA).  The membership allows your child to complete in sanctioned events as well as provides additional insurance.  For more information, please review the Parent's Page on the USFA website.

Age requirements exist for the events sponsored by USFA.  The following lists the categories and the requirements.

Classifications:
Classifications are assigned to indicate the skill of the fencer.  These letters (A thru E with A being the highest) are earned in competitions.  In addition to a letter, the year the classification was earned is noted. A fencer listed as A02 earned that ranking in the year 2002.  All fencers start out as a 'U' for unknown.  As the fencer enters tournaments, his/her ranking may change depending upon placement in tournaments.
